Greenbuddies celebrates 8 years of innovation and growth in solar energy! From a small startup in a kitchen to a key player in the European market, we have come a long way. Over the years, we have delivered over 1 GWp of installations across 17 European countries, completed record-breaking projects, and continue to expand our operations. Read about our milestones, achievements, and future plans.
In 2017, Aleš and Ondřej founded Greenbuddies s.r.o. – a small business that started in Ondřej’s kitchen. Our first projects were completed in Germany. Two years later, we introduced ourselves at the Solar Solutions trade fair in the Netherlands, which opened the door to this market and led to our first contracts in the region.
In 2019, we successfully completed the Rottenbach project in Germany, our first EPC-based realization.
Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the installation of primarily ground-mounted solar power plants continued in Belgium and the Netherlands, with more than 150 workers in the field.
In 2021, we established Greenbuddies Charging, specializing in carport construction and charging infrastructure. In the same year, we completed Austria’s largest carport at the time in Lutzmannsburg, with a capacity of 1.5 MWp, covering 454 parking spaces.
During this period, our core team grew to 25 employees and 250 field workers, while a small commercial team began operating in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
The year 2022 was record-breaking for us – we successfully completed our largest 138 MWp installation in the Netherlands. We also launched our first EPC project in the Czech Republic, a 1 MWp rooftop installation at the Prague Congress Center, and started actively developing solar energy projects on the domestic market.
Since then, we have completed 30 photovoltaic projects, secured over 40 MWp of building permits, and have projects exceeding 550 MWp in development. Our team has expanded to 70 employees and over 400 field professionals.
In 2023, we reached the milestone of 1 GWp of installed capacity and expanded our presence to 17 European countries. At the same time, we installed Germany’s first floating solar power plant with trackers in Hoym, with a capacity of 1.6 MWp.
In the past year, we achieved even more significant milestones, including expanding into the Irish market and completing a 5.3 MWp EPC project in Sudslava near Pardubice, where a quarter of the project is built on single-axis trackers.
With 8 years of experience and many ambitious plans for the future, we are ready to further expand our reach and deliver innovative solutions in solar energy.
