The Greenbuddies Group made a pre-tax profit of CZK 100 million (EUR 3.94 million) last year. This is a year-on-year increase of more than 55 million, or 126 percent. The group's turnover also rose significantly, by 94 percent to a total of CZK 778.4 million. "We have achieved a significant milestone of one gigawattpeak (GWp) of total installed capacity in 2023. Behind this milestone are two and a half million solar modules installed, but above all, seven years of hard work. Our core markets are Germany and the Netherlands, but we are already active in seventeen countries in the European Union. In the last two years, we have focused on the Czech market, and we are using our foreign experience here," said Aleš Spáčil, co-owner and founder of the group.
The increase in revenues, according to him, was mainly due to the increase in demand for sustainable energy sources in all EU markets, where the market for photovoltaic power plants grew by more than 40 % year on year. The Czech Republic has also joined this trend, reaching almost a gigawatt of installed capacity again after many years, and the percentage growth is impressive, with the market growing by thousands of percent.
Early last year, Greenbuddies also entered into an agreement with international investor and developer Langa International. The contract promises the creation of new solar power plants in the Czech Republic by 2028 for 100 million euros, or CZK 2.4 billion.
"This year we are planning to expand into other European markets, for example we have already managed to conclude a contract for a land project in Ireland. And in the Czech Republic, we want to continue to confirm our position as the largest supplier of industrial photovoltaics. At the same time, we plan to apply our foreign experience in the construction of solar carports, agrivoltaics, and possibly also water-based photovoltaics in the Czech Republic. In Italy, Germany, and other EU countries, we are renovating old solar power plants and helping them to increase their performance, a solution that is also very interesting for the Czech market," adds Aleš Spáčil.
In Europe, the Group operates in fifteen other EU countries besides the Czech Republic and the previously mentioned Germany and the Netherlands: Belgium, Croatia, Italy, France, Slovakia, Malta, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Luxembourg, Estonia, Poland, Hungary and Ireland.
