80 MWp and Counting: Greenbuddies Expands with New Milestones
Dear friends of photovoltaics and green energy,
Welcome to our regular quarterly review of the photovoltaic market. Let’s take a look together at the projects Greenbuddies has completed over the past three months and explore the current trends shaping the solar industry.
I am thrilled to share the exceptional results that we, together with our colleagues, have achieved in the first quarter of 2025. Our company’s revenues reached a historic record of 13 million EUR — almost matching our total revenue for the entire year of 2022, which was already considered a major success at the time. A heartfelt thanks goes to everyone who contributed to our work, supported us, and collaborated with us towards a greener future. Let’s keep it up!
In recent months, we have not only broken records but also successfully completed several key projects. In total, we finalized 16 projects — 10 ground-mounted power plants and 6 rooftop installations — adding nearly 80 MWp to our portfolio, which now exceeds 1.25 gigawatts of installed photovoltaic capacity.
A project worth highlighting is undoubtedly one of the flagships of our EPC business: the successful completion and handover of Austria’s largest and third-largest solar carports, with capacities of 3.35 MWp and 1.32 MWp respectively. With the first one, we surpassed the previous Austrian record set by the Lutzmannsburg carport (1.5 MWp), which was also delivered by Greenbuddies.
Currently, the biggest trend in sustainable energy is large-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) — both in hybrid setups combined with PV plants and, soon, as standalone battery systems permitted by the new Czech energy law amendment Lex OZE III, which will contribute to grid stabilization. At Greenbuddies, we are actively working on several pioneering ground-mounted PV projects in the Czech Republic that are complemented by battery storage solutions.
At the same time, we have successfully entered the German market with systematic EPC project deliveries. Our focus here is mainly on projects ranging from 5 to 20 MW in size. The first projects are now under construction, and we look forward to sharing more details with you soon.
Regarding rooftop PV installations, we, like many others, have observed a slight decline in demand. Fortunately, this decrease is more than compensated in our portfolio by other types of PV systems, including larger field installations, agrivoltaics, carports, and specific water-based PV projects. We are currently constructing more than 160 MWp of new capacity, and I am excited to see these projects soon harnessing the power of the sun.
Finally, a major event is just around the corner: Intersolar Europe 2025 — the world’s leading solar industry exhibition and part of Europe’s largest energy industry exhibition alliance. This will be our fourth participation, and if you are planning to visit the fair in Munich to gather inspiration, we would be delighted to welcome you at our booth A4.109.
All the best,
Your Chief Sales Buddy
Aleš Spáčil
