Roof-mounted PV systems and lightweight turnkey panels
In October 2025, the Greenbuddies team successfully completed a roof-mounted photovoltaic power plant for Foxconn's Pardubice plant. We installed more than a thousand lightweight panels on the roof, which are the ideal solution for industrial buildings with limited roof load-bearing capacity.
Thanks to our experience with similar installations, we were able to ensure the efficient progress of all phases of the project in the form of EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction). From project documentation, through delivery and assembly of components, to commissioning of the power plant. The entire process took place without the need to interrupt the customer's production activities, which is always a priority for us.
The technology used includes lightweight panels that weigh up to 50% less than conventional glass modules. This allows them to be installed even on roofs that would be overloaded by conventional panels. As a result, Foxconn has gained an environmentally friendly and cost-effective source of energy that will reduce its dependence on external electricity suppliers.
The future and benefits of industrial PV
Industrial operations are among the largest consumers of energy. The installation of a solar power plant with lightweight panels allows companies to exploit the potential of their roofs without additional costs for structural modifications. With this step, Foxconn has moved closer to greater energy self-sufficiency while supporting its sustainability goals.
"We see the promotion of solar energy as an integral part of our corporate culture. We are pleased to have been able to work with a partner who shares our values in the area of sustainability," said Martin Vencl, PR & Communication Supervisor at Foxconn.
The project was partially financed by subsidies, which shortens the return on investment period. The system will begin supplying electricity by the end of 2025.
Industrial photovoltaics gets the green light
The installation for Foxconn follows on from previous Greenbuddies projects in the industrial sector, such as the rooftop power plant for P3 Logistic Parks in Olomouc and installations for CTParks. This area has enormous potential for the future. On January 1, 2026, an amendment to the Building Act will come into force, allowing companies to use vacant land on their premises for the construction of photovoltaic systems without restrictions on existing building density.
