The repowering project is located on a former brownfield site near Wölfersheim, Germany. The photovoltaic power plant covers an area of 96,400 m2. Replacement with new modern modules allowed an additional 1.5 MWp to be placed on the existing substructure, increasing the PV output on the same area by 25% compared to 10 years ago.
Greenbuddies has been providing repowering services for older photovoltaic power plants throughout Europe since 2017. Repowering involves modernizing existing PV plants by replacing outdated components—primarily solar panels and inverters—with newer and more efficient technologies. The process involves dismantling the original panels, modifying the cabling, inspecting the structures, and installing new modules. Thanks to modern technologies, it is possible to increase the power output, efficiency, and lifespan of a power plant without having to build an entirely new project. Greenbuddies has experience with comprehensive repowering projects in Germany, Italy, and other European countries.
