Greenbuddies acted as the general contractor for one of the largest projects combining a ground-mounted photovoltaic power plant with battery energy storage in the Czech Republic. The project involved the full-scope EPC delivery of the mechanical and electrical installation. At the same time, the project required close coordination of extensive civil, mechanical and electrical works and their integration with the battery energy storage system.

Located in the municipality of Modlany near Teplice, the project was developed on a former mining spoil heap, giving a previously underutilised brownfield site a new purpose. The project also includes a large-scale battery energy storage system, enabling the facility to provide grid balancing services and support the stability of the Czech electricity system.

Construction took place across approximately 30 hectares of former mining land. Instead of using agricultural land, the brownfield is being transformed into a large-scale renewable energy site. The project demonstrates how former mining and industrial areas can be repurposed for modern energy infrastructure.

Greenbuddies delivered the project on a full-scope EPC basis, from execution documentation and technology supply through construction and commissioning.
