Greenbuddies has successfully completed the repowering project for a solar power plant in Gotha, Germany. The original solar power plant, built in 2012 with a capacity of 11.7 MWp, was equipped with more than 50,000 older glass panels, the removal of which posed a significant technical challenge. A special suction cup mounted on the arm of a wheel loader was used to ensure safe and efficient handling. As part of the project, we removed the outdated panels, reconfigured the stringing, and installed nearly 22,000 new 545 Wp panels across approximately two-thirds of the site. The project increased the power output, efficiency, and service life of the existing plant. The successful completion of this project reaffirmed Greenbuddies’ expertise in modernizing solar power plants through technically demanding repowering projects.
